2019 Pacific typhoon season

Typhoon Hagibis is a large and strong tropical cyclone which has made landfall in the Kantō region of Japan. It is the nineteenth named storm, ninth typhoon, and third super-typhoon in the 2019 Pacific typhoon season. Forming from a tropical disturbance located east of Guam on 5 October, Hagibis experienced an explosive intensification phase soon after forming. Peak 1-minute sustained wind speeds reached 140 kn (260 km/h; 160 mph) as it neared Guam and the Mariana Islands. It impacted the islands as a Category 5 equivalent super-typhoon. It made landfall on Japan as a Category 2 equivalent typhoon on 12 October.[1]
