Candy Pangilinan also known as Ma. Carmela E. Pangilinan is the 3rd child among her siblings of four. Her supposedly nickname was Maricar. But to her parents dismay that everytime they call her Maricar she would not respond. They will bribe her with a candy for her to approach a person... Then comes the nickname: Candy

In the early stage of her life, she has already shown her much interest in performing arts. Candy's parents Augusto Pangilinan and Teodorica Espiritu vehemenetly disagreed with the child's interest on becoming an actress.
Ipinanganak si Candy sa Childrens Medical Hospital sa Quezon City.
Candy's yaya with other household help would sneak Candy to join the children's show TSP-Tony Santos Presents where she would come in different looks as not to be disqualified for always joining...
She studied Child Study till 1st year high school at Maryknoll College. She transfered to St. Paul's QC on her 2nd year. She finished College at the University of the Phil. BA Theater Arts
Everytime we get to talk with Candy there is no dull moment. I perceive her as a person full of candidness, wit and heart. Indeed, she is a commedienne but she always says that 'being an actor is not just a job, it's a profession and a commitment'. She does not take laughing matters sitting down. Thus, she just won 2005 Fenmale Best Stand-Up Commedian.
She does make people laugh but Candy wasn't spared with the facts, realities and turmoils of life. After the marital break-up, a special child left to her care, putting together the pieces of her life makes her say ' Couldn't be more perfect than this, for I know God pulled me through'
