Margarito Teves

Si Margarito "Gary" Bustalino Teves (ipinanganak Agosto 1, 1943) ay isang mambabatas, lingkod-bayan at negosyante na nagmula sa Negros Oriental.[1] Tinanghal siya bilang "Best Finance Minister" sa Asya ng The Banker.[2]

Unang yugto ng buhay baguhin

Ipinanganak si Margarito "Gary" Teves noong Agosto 1, 1943 sa Dipolog City, Zamboanga del Norte kina Herminio "Meniong" G. Teves at Narcisa "Sisay" E. Bustalino.[3][4] Siya ay ikinasal kay Loretto "Nini" Santos at nagkaroon sila ng tatlong anak na pinangalanang Jennifer, Herminio Cirilo at Kathyrine.[4]

Edukasyon baguhin

Nakamit ni Teves ang Higher National Diploma sa Business Studies na katumbas ng Bachelor of Science sa Business Economics sa City of London College at Master of Arts sa Development Economics mula sa Center for Development Economics sa Williams College, Massachusetts.[5]

Propesyon baguhin

Naging kinatawan ng ikatlong distrito ng Negros Oriental sa Kongreso si Teves mula 1987 hanggang 1998.[6][7] Habang nasa Kongreso, si Teves ay naging tagapangulo ng Committees on Rural Development and Economic Affairs, pangalawang tagapangulo ng Committee on Agriculture & Food at kasapi ng Legislative Executive Development Advisory Council noong 1993.[8][9] Pinamunuan niya ang Land Bank of the Philippines bilang presidente at punong tagapagpaganap (chief executive officer) mula 2000 hanggang 2005 at ang Kagawaran ng Pananalapi bilang kalihim mula 2005 hanggang 2010.[5]

Mula 1998 hanggang 2000 at mula 2010 hanggang 2017 ay pinamunuan ni Teves and kumpanyang Think Tank.[10] Siya din ay naging direktor sa Alphaland Corporation, Atok-Big Wedge Co., Inc., The City Club at Alphaland Makati Place, Inc. at Pampanga Sugar Development Co. noong 2011.[10] Naging direktor siya ng AB Capital Investment Corporation, San Miguel Corporation, The Wallace Business Forum at Alphaland Balesin Island Club, Inc. noong 2012.[10] Noong 2013 ay naging Board Adviser si Teves ng Bank of Commerce at direktor ng Atlantic Aurum Investments Philippines Corporation.[10] Naging direktor si Teves ng Petron Corporation noong 2014.[5]
